Pokemon Platinum!

It's coming out in about a week. Don't forget to pick up your copy.

Information from Bulbapedia:

"As of Pokémon Platinum, Magikarp is the lowest, and ironically, also the highest level non-glitch Pokémon available for capture at level 1 and 100, beating out even the level 80 Arceus for highest. It is only available in a pond in the Resort Area with a Super Rod in Platinum, where only Magikarp can be caught and range in level anywhere from level 1 to 100. "

Unfortunately, Magikarp is the WORST Pokemon to obtain, at least until you evolve it into the powerful, intimidating Gyarados.

For those wondering why Magikarp is a very horrible Pokemon to get is due to its abysmal stats and poor movepool, learning no moves from TMs & HMs, no effective moves until level 15 and learning only one, and probably the most effective, through tutoring.

Magikarp starts with these base stats:

HP: 20

Attack: 10

Defense: 55

Special Attack: 15

Special Defense: 20

Speed: 80

Although scoring an average for Speed and a "fairly well" for Defense, the only way to let your Magikarp level up without the use of Rare Candies is to use the EXP. Share and let your Magikarp level up by making any other Pokemon in your party battle.

To compare Magikarp with its evolution, Gyarados, here are its base stats:

HP: 95

Attack: 125

Defense: 79

Special Attack: 60

Special Defense: 100

Speed: 81

Gyarados can use many strong Dragon-type moves, but very little Flying type moves even though it is of that type. It also learns HM and TM moves, like Surf and Water Pulse.

I hope you enjoy evolving your Magikarp, that is if you caught one. - Chatot.

Pokemon Platinum is coming!

Well, most of us are already aware of it. But it's only two months away.

That's right, people. 22nd March 2009. Pokemon Platinum will arrive! It will introduce many features, as well as the Platinum Extension of the Sinnoh Dex.

59 new Pokemon will be included in this extension. The following are:

Rotom, Gligar, Gliscor, Nosepass, Probopass, Ralts, Kirlia, Gardevoir, Gallade, Lickitung, Lickilicky, Eevee, Vaporeon, Jolteon, Flareon, Swablu, Altaria, Togepi, Togetic, Togekiss, Houndour, Houndoom, Magnemite, Magneton, Magnezone, Tangela, Tangrowth, Yanma, Yanmega, Tropius, Rhyhorn, Rhydon, Rhyperior, Duskull, Dusclops, Dusknoir, Porygon, Porygon2, Porygon-Z, Scyther, Scizor, Elekid, Electabuzz, Electivire, Magby, Magmar, Magmortar, Swinub, Piloswine, Mamoswine, Snorunt, Glalie, Froslass, Absol and Giratina.

Not only can you get these Pokemon before the National Dex, you can also get access to the following:

- Giratina's Origin Forme and Altered Forme.
- All five of Rotom's formes (Only with the Secret Key, via Mystery Gift)
- Shaymin Sky Forme (Only after the National Dex, and only if you have a Shaymin in your party)

However, Manaphy is now needed to complete the Sinnoh Dex. You can find a picture of Manaphy in a book in the Trophy Garden of Mr. Backlot's.

You can also get both Dialga and Palkia at the Spear Pillar; one at a time, however.

Most of the Pokemon (Mainly the ones included in the new Sinnoh Dex) have a sprite change. They would have either a slight change in details, or a completely new sprite. You can also see the sprite animations with backsprites. Not only would the backsprites move, they will also animate in facial expressions.

Many changes in the game's story and plot are present in Platinum. To read more about it, please refer to:

This is Shaymin. Land and Sky form.
Shaymin have a habitual trait called "Flower Carrying". Each season, Shaymin gather in a flower field somewhere and migrate from there. This behavior is called Flower Carrying because a new field of flowers grow where they land. Their personalities are almost opposite with each form-- Land Form is shy and easily scared, while Sky Form is courageous and playful.

Hey, guys! Chatot here.

I just breeded my first Eevee, him who evolved into Umbreon, with a Ditto. His name is Dasher II. If you guys are playing Diamond and Pearl and are wondering where else to get an Eevee...

1. You can get one at Bebe's house in Hearthome, it's the house next to the Pokemon Center. Be wary, you can only get it once you get the National Dex*.
2. Once you get the National Dex*, you can go to Route 212, into the Pokemon Mansion (owned by Mr. Backlot). Go to the room to the right, you will see Mr. Backlot and his butler. Now save. And then talk to Mr. Backlot. He should say something like this:

"Er-hem! It brings me pride to have my garden at the back. Why bother traveling when Pokemon come to my garden ready to be caught? Well, aren't you jealous? Muhohoho, I bet you are! Well, I don't mind! I enjoy sharing my stories with you. So! Pokemon are always ready to see me. They sidle up, happy to see me. Well, aren't you jealous? Muhohoho, I bet you are! But I don't mind! I enjoy sharing my stories with you!"

Be aware that you need to say "Yes" when he asks you if you're jealous of his garden. After the second "Yes", he will tell you what Pokemon are available in his garden.

Example, "So! This is what happened when I visited my garden this morning. I saw a cute-eyed JIGGLYPUFF..." At this point, unless you want a Jigglypuff, you should soft-reset. To soft-reset, hold the R, L, Start and Select button together. It should restart the game. Keep doing this until Backlot tells you an Eevee is available to get in his garden.

Eevees are rare, just like the other Pokemon Backlot mentions in his garden. And it is only in Pokemon Diamond and Pearl you can catch an Eevee, otherwise you would've gotten one from an NPC, like Bebe.

If you don't want to go to Backlot to get an Eevee, what you can do is get a Ditto, which are also as rare - they can only be caught with the use of a Pokeradar. The Pokeradar will be received when you get the National Dex*. You can catch Ditto at Route 218.

After you get your Ditto, bring it (along with your Eevee) to Solaceon Town. Go to the Daycare center (the house with an old man standing in front of) and talk to the lady at the counter. She would ask if you would like your Pokemon to be taken care of. Say yes, and when she asks if you want another Pokemon to be taken care of as well, agree to it.

Now, to get your Pokemon to breed, just walk around and check back with the Daycare Poketch Application. You can get this by talking to the old man outside of the Daycare center. Wait until you see an Egg in the middle of the two and then talk to the old man again. He would give you the egg, only if you have an available slot in your party.

*National Dex. You can only obtain this once you've filled your Pokedex/Sinnoh Dex. Then talk to Rowan at Sandgem town, he will give you this and the Pokeradar.
